IN-CHARACTER:
Character name: Aeon Flux
Character journal: [personal profile] hooliganstatus
Series name: Aeon Flux
Canon notes: After the animated canon, at some point during the PS2 video game which ties the cartoon canon to the 2005 film.
Species: Human
Age: Canon doesn't say, I'm guessing early 30s.

Arrival Condition: Minor injuries - scratches, bruises. One light bullet graze on her upper right arm which will need sterilizing and bandaging.

History: Animated canon details. The internet is light on details about the game's plot, but each level is a mission Aeon undertakes for the Monicans. She dies at the end of each level as part of the story, and eventually learns that she is being cloned each time she is killed. She'll still be in the process of trying to discover why as she arrives on Agra 10.

Personality:
  • Morally Flawed: When Aeon was first created, the writers' objective was to force audiences to look at the stereotypical American action hero in a different way: not because they decided to make her female, but because she is never clearly outlined as The Good Gal. She is framed within each story as a protagonist, but morally she can be very gray, sometimes swinging closer to villainy depending upon her actions in any specific situation. She is driven in equal parts by her own personal wants and by reaction to her circumstances. As such, she can be cruel to someone out of jealousy or spite one moment, but extremely compassionate and giving the next ... but the motive behind it is always her own. In one episode, she pits two lovers against each other: first because one has abandoned his girlfriend for life across the border, and then because said girlfriend develops an attachment to Aeon's rival and would-be-lover. In another, she causes someone's death by complete accident and spends the rest of the episode looking after the widower they left behind, trying to help him complete his research project. It's a sweet thing to do, and it's clear she ends up caring for him, but it was still ultimately motivated by her own guilt. This is the aspect of Aeon I really want to play with the most in TDF: seeing her actions have consequences, and learning not only to live with them, but to anticipate them and make better choices.

  • Curious: If something is new, doesn't belong, or has the potential to become salacious blackmail fodder, Aeon's eyes are on it. This gets her in a lot of trouble, fatal or otherwise. In the instances where Aeon dies in canon, they are almost always accidents brought about by her easily-distracted nature. She investigates a neglected security recorder on an assassination mission and is instead shot, herself. She steals eggs from a creature's nest and is killed trying to escape. While spying on someone on the track of an elevated train, instead of moving toward her objective, she trips and falls to her death. And so on. And so forth. On Agra, she's more likely to be the one to go investigate things than to fix them, though I'll likely give her the Communications data point (see "Intelligence" notes below).

  • Shameless Libido: Most of the Monican rebels don't seem big on modesty, given their taste for bare midriffs and legs, but Aeon takes body positivity and sexual freedom a lot farther than most seen in the show. She is pansexual, frequently flirting with anyone she finds intriguing ... and in some cases, is genuinely sad when her advances aren't met well. She has a few fetishes - feet and bondage being the biggest - and is not above a little voyeurism for the thrill of it. I have an opt-out post for all of this and would never thread anything between characters without player consent, but Aeon's sexuality is such a core part of her character that I would be remiss to leave it out. Her rivalry with Trevor Goodchild would likely not exist at all if they didn't feel so drawn to each other: she probably would have just killed him and that would be the end of it. Aeon's also a little bit of a hedonist if she's given the opportunity, though she's not a snob: she's just as capable of living in ruined buildings as she is fully-furnished apartments with large, comfortable beds and couches.

  • Stubborn:When presented with a mystery, Aeon can and will pursue it to her own detriment. This is most evident in the episode "Chronophasia", when she goes in search of a laboratory test subject, only to be infected by the virus the tests were trying to prevent. The virus causes strong hallucinations and strange effects on the victim's perception of time, so Aeon effectively sees herself die over and over again in her mind while trying to piece together what has happened. Instead of letting Trevor treat her for the virus, she escapes, convinced he is just trying to keep her from her goal. The virus takes control of her, and she is trapped in her own mind at the end of the episode for an undetermined period of time.

  • Intelligent: I wouldn't classify Aeon as a genius, but she is definitely intelligent: she's familiar with several high-tech futuristic computer systems, enough to be able to hack some of them and redirect their programming so that they work more in tandem with her mission goals. She is familiar with many different kinds of bombs, guns, and other weapons, able to assemble and disassemble them with speed and ease. But both of these pale in comparison to the sort of mind games she plays as a spy, being able to see what people want and to play others' needs and desires against one another. She's not nearly as good a people-reader as my other gal, Clarice, but she thinks she is, and her over-confidence can get her into trouble sometimes if someone gets a step or two ahead of her. When that happens, though, Aeon is occasionally able to backpedal and get herself back on track ... but sometimes she just has to put her tail between her legs, go home, and try again the next day. It may require someone else convincing her to quit while she's ahead, however...

Abilities: No magical abilities, though she has an extremely high pain tolerance, excellent marksmanship, is in peak physical condition, and can perform some pretty stellar acrobatics.

Personal Item: Her gun, though it will contain no rounds, only the grappling hook attachment.

Sample: Here. Also a thread with Ikora.
